3/1 Micah is able to find specific items when prompted, if we ask "where is your hammer" he will crawl across the room and get it! He also will comply with other requests like "please sit down," or "can I have that please?" He is mimicking actions with toys, and although everything still goes in his mouth, he has been using his toys for the "intended" purpose like using his hammer on his xylophone or pushing his cars and trucks around on the floor. Everyday mama says "my baby is becoming a toddler!" He really is growing up fast! The other night mama came home from work late and when Micah woke up around midnight he gave her two big kisses on the mouth and held her tight for a good five minutes. So sweet! She could barely hold back her tears, what an amazing feeling that is. He is still "stop-drop-and-headstanding" several times a day and loves it when mama plays peekaboo while he's upside down and when daddy helps him do a somersault and "throws" him on the bed. Micah continues to leave mama presents in her work cart, while at work last week she found 5 of his toys packed away in her cart. So sweet of him to share! We move into our new house in less than a week (March 7th) and are so excited to start this next chapter of our lives in a new city! We visited the house a couple weeks ago and put Micah down at the bottom of the steps so we could check paint chips, measure, and chat with the vendors/sellers and he crawled right up them! He hasn't been around steps at all except for two small stairs leading from nana's living room to her kitchen in Colorado and he knew exactly how to do it! No fear! When he really wants you to listen he talks really loudly, looks you directly in the eye and talks (adamantly) with his hands...it's the cutest thing ever! He is constantly pointing to things while chatting away and we can tell he really, really wants to communicate with us. We can't wait to hear what is going on in his cute little head once he is able to talk! His first birthday is right around the corner!
3/8 Micah's first bath in his new big boy tub! He splashed all around, stood up, tried to eat the faucet, and seemed to like his new spacious tub!
3/11 Micah has his 7th tooth coming in (third on the bottom!) He has been busy, busy exploring our new house. We have been slowly preparing the 2nd floor to be his play area and in the meantime trying desperately to keep him contained and away from dangerous items! Micah is no longer content to hang out by his toys and wants to explore his big new house! In a flash he is off and climbs the stairs like he's been doing it his whole life..he is so fast! He climbs up both flights and then darts off down the hallway into the different rooms on the 3rd floor. He loves having so much new territory to explore. As always he is most interested in the items that are "off limits" and dangerous. He still loves to be held and to keep us close by, which we love. Unpacking is a slow process with a little one but all of us are absolutely loving our new home and so excited to explore and settle into our new city!
3/12 Micah's new thing is pointing at everyone he sees. Mama took him to Costco today and he kept pointing at random strangers and they would look up surprised and he would flash them his super cute grin and flirty eyes. He loved this older gentleman in line and kept smiling and giggling at him the whole time until eventually the man decided to help mama load her groceries onto the conveyor belt...little hustler! He just loves people. A couple days ago the painters came by to do some repair work and when daddy let them in he got super excited and did his little happy dance and when they left he started crying! Too funny!
3/18 Micah is acting much older these days! He is stacking blocks, climbing on and off of and sitting in his new big boy chair, and as of today, taking off his own diaper!
3/21 On Micah's actual birthday mama and daddy surprised him with a play area full of balloons, new sand toys, and a ride-on dragon. Mama made him pancakes and then we all took a family trip to the beach! We re-enacted our birth announcement at the beach where we took the original photo (now a stone's throw away and put Micah's little feet in the sandals! We reflected on the craziness or everything coming full circle and the beautiful intricacies of God's plan. Micah played in (and ate) sand and we put his little feet in the ocean for the first time. The next day we had Micah's birthday party/cake smash and it was wonderful. Micah took a wonderful two hour nap right before the party giving mama and daddy some extra time to run around like crazy trying to finish everything. It was a huge undertaking despite the fact that we kept it small with mostly family. Mama made veggie fajitas and lentil walnut tacos, along with a homemade banana smash cake for Micah and a chocolate cake for the guests. Micah absolutely loved his smash cake and sat there eating it for about 20 minutes! He was so adorable! He just loves having people all around him at all times so he was happy as a clam for the entire party.
