2/8 Maddy cakes has found her toes and just LOVES playing with them! She is reaching for and grabbing her toys and bringing them to her mouth. Still loves to smile and giggle, cuddle and kiss. Loves watching Micah but is smart enough to look a bit alarmed when he gets too close. 😂 keeps me up All. Night. Love her to pieces anyway!

3 months
This girl is the sweetest. She just can't help but give you a huge, all encompassing smile if you look at her. She just melts our hearts. She also has a coy little look away where she smiles at you but then immediately covers her face with her hands and turns away.
Poor baby caught the bug that has incapacitated our whole family this last week (since Christmas Eve) and it has been heartbreaking and terrifying to watch her have a stuffy nose, cough, and fever. We have all been so sick but she is so little and it seems so scary.
She is grasping toys and bringing things to her mouth. We think she may be teething already! She still loves to watch Micah and smile at him. She giggles now if you give her kisses on her neck, belly, or cheeks-so cute! Still hates the car seat with a fierce passion and will tolerate being put down away from us for only a short period. She loves face-to-face interactions best and will talk and tell stories to mama for several minutes.
Two and a half month update
Maddy is our happy, smiley girl! If you catch her eyes and give her a smile or talk to her, her entire face lights up and she gives you the sweetest, biggest grin you can imagine. She brings so much joy to our family! She LOVES to stare at her big brother Micah and gives him the biggest smiles of all. She literally follows him around the room with her eyes. Micah is always asking about the baby, where is the baby? Is she hungry? She needs a diaper change-I will help! Although he is definitely struggling with some big feelings about this huge transition in our lives, he is very sweet about his baby sister-he always makes sure she is taken care of. If she cries while mommy or daddy are changing her clothes or diapers he demands that we "STOP that" and lets us know "she doesn't like that!" Having two kids is SO HARD but it's also so wonderful and we feel very blessed and grateful.
She is sleeping pretty well for us at the beginning of the night and takes one long nap and several mini naps everyday. She is also already learning to self-soothe and puts herself back to sleep sometimes by sucking on her little fist (thank you sweet girl-we appreciate it)! She is cooing at us and talking (when we call it talking Micah likes to remind us that she cannot talk and is "still learning"). She always wants to see what is happening around her and turns her head toward whoever is talking. She is startled by loud noises and screams her little heart out (daddy ripping tape off of a package, big brother playing the drums, etc.). She loves to be naked, poops about 27 times a day, hates to get her nails trimmed, enjoys her bath, and loves her night time routine baby massages. She loves to nurse, nurse, nurse, and has grown, grown, grown. At her two month well-baby check-up she hadn't grown lengthwise AT ALL but had gained over two lbs! (21.7 inches long in the 13th percentile and 11 lbs 6 oz in the 47th percentile!) Daddy lovingly refers to her as his little tree stump! She has the cutest little cheeks and baby rolls-we just love every inch of her!

6 Weeks & 2.5 year update
Micah is finally starting to feel better after 20+ day illness in which he was vommiting and not eating. We ended up in the ER to rehydrate him again (same exact time he was in the ER last year!) and went to the doctor several times. He is finally eating again (about 7 times a day actually, he can't get enough!) and gaining back the weight he lost. It was so hard to see him so lethargic and thin! He missed a lot of fun Halloween events again but he did feel well enough to trick or treat and it was SO fun to watch him. He was so excited when he realized he got candy at the first house. He yelled and sang "CANDY!!" and then dance-walked to the next house. He looked so super cute as Daniel Tiger too! He loved seeing all the houses decorated in spider webs, skeletons, and Frankensteins! He also was great at handing out candy. We celebrated with Grandma Lind and Grandpa Sam at their house so after we went trick-or-treating we had dinner and helped hand out candy to the hoards of children that come to their neighborhood to see the awesome pirate ship house and other homes that go all out. It was the perfect Halloween and we were so happy he got to do something fun even though he wasn't 100%. He is still battling a cough and doesn't have the same energy he usually does but we are hoping for the rest of his symptoms to clear up soon and for him to be running and playing outside again. We've been stuck inside for about a month now and ready to get ox
Micah says the funniest things! Some of his newest words are opportunity, "iffin," "apable to" (a combination of able to and capable),
HIs favorite thing to do is still read, although our routine got very thrown off during this long illness with a newborn so he got a bit more screen time than we'd prefer. He now asks to watch something every day and he picks between Daniel Tiger, Sesame Street, Room on the Broom, or Gruffalo's child. He get's so excited when he watched ROTB-it's always been one of our favorite books so it was perfect to watch during October in anticipation of Halloween.
He is already talking about Christmas and Santa and mama cannot wait to get decorating! Daddy and I are constantly amazed by how smart he is. He has high emotional intelligence and can identify feelings and empathize with incredible insight. When we all sit down and eat dinner together I'm always amazed by some of the things that come out of his mouth-our baby is growing up! It is so fun and amazing to watch your kiddos becoming who they are. I love to see both of their personalities unfold.
Maddy One Month Update
Week Two: On Maddy's 2 week birthday we "braved" Disneyland with Maddy tucked into the Moby wrap and covered up. Mama was battling her panic over germs the entire night but everyone had a nice time. Another blur of appointments with the pediatrician and midwives, mama's friend Heather came to visit. Maddy loves to cuddle with mama-from co-sleeping to the moby and ring sling-she is most content snuggled close with easy nursing access! She gets VERY upset if she has to wait to nurse and has quite the scream for a tiny newborn! She makes the cutest little determined face once she latches on after this which seems to be a mix of "Finally! I'm never letting go!," relief, and anger over how long she was forced to wait! (usually one or two minutes max!) She grabs on tightly with both hands and stares straight ahead...too funny! As the week comes to an end, our family is fighting illness and upset tummies! Micah has a horrible tummy bug, mama has a sore throat, and Maddy is battling reflux! That's what we get for going to Disneyland! :( Daddy has taken to calling Maddy a "grunty baby" because she makes a whole lot of noise!
Week Three: This week Maddy has really started to wake up and becoming much more alert! She has given us some big, adorable smiles the last couple of days and spends more time looking around and checking out her environment. She loves to sleep on her tummy and has started to sleep longer stretches during naps if she is able to sleep on her tummy (don't worry-mama keeps a close eye on her! We had our newborn photoshoot on Maddy's 3 week birthday and got to see some of the photos already-we are so in love! Can't wait to get all the photos back! Here is a sneak peek! Her eyes are open wide now and her features are really starting to develop-we think she is just gorgeous! So fun seeing her engage with us more and we are excited to get to know her better as she spends more time awake!
At her one month check up (5 weeks) she weighed in at 9 lbs 8 oz (45th percentile) and was 12.5 inches long (55th percentile). She gained 3 lbs 3 oz in one month!!!
