Updates

4/1/15 Micah has changed so much since his first birthday! He is just getting so big! At his recent well baby check he measured at 31 inches (90th percentile), 21.6 lbs (65th percentile), and 47 1/2 cm for his head (90th percentile). He is crawling up and down the stairs, pointing at everything and labeling it, he loves ceiling fans and his airplane mobile and points at them constantly, he is in love with his new push car that he got for his birthday and if we go our through the garage he will point at it and say "gah"..go?? car?? I don't know but it's adorable. We love taking his little car across the street to the park and swinging. Yesterday daddy took him for a ride in his push car while mama was at work and decided to pass the park-Micah protested by yelling and pointing at the park! He knew just where to go!! He LOVES books and will bring you book after book to read. He also likes to sit on the floor and look through books while he's playing independently. He points to different pictures and says "co" or "gah" and loves when mama makes up silly sayings for his animal numbers book. He has a book that has pictures that slide over to reveal something on the other side (2 monkeys pushed aside to reveal that there are actually 5 monkeys) so mama would say "oh wait a minute! There are FIVE monkeys" and so on, and Micah would just crack up hysterically...so cute. He also thinks it's very funny when mama uses her best British accent to say "top of the morning to you!" (sometimes proceeded by sneezing off her top hat aka nesting cup). His laugh is the best sound in the world.

Date night! Thanks Gramma Lind!

4/13/15
Micah's favorite thing is still books! All day long he brings us book after book to read (and he has some favorites that he asks for the most, including this one). I love this book and bought it back in September because it is the perfect book for Fall. I have always kissed his cheek after I read this page but now when I read it he bends down and kisses the cheek of the baby in the book. Melts my heart!♡
Also, ever since his birthday balloons he always points to the pictures of the red balloon when we read Goodnight Moon...such a sweetie!

4/17/15 Micah continually surprises us with all that he can do. Yesterday he put the triangle and hexagon shapes in his shape sorter, pointed to the banana in the book when mama asked him where it was, brought daddy one of his favorite Dr. Seuss book about drumming when daddy said "dum ditty dum dum"-a line from the book. He is climbing on everything and wants to be very independent-especially at the park. He climbs up and down on the equipment and doesn't want help, even when it's very high up! He loves to be at the park and to see other kids, he just squeals with delight and gives them a huge smile until they acknowledge him. We always take his car to the park and he loves the drive there but he is always crying on the way home because he HATES leaving! He gives the saddest little face and waves bye-bye to everything at the park...very cute and sad! He also loves pushing his little walker around and is SO proud of himself. He is learning to steer his ride-on dragon and rides it around and around the kitchen island. He figured out how to put the finger puppet on his little pointer finger and gets so excited to show daddy and mama just how smart he is! Any time we leave the house we end up talking to a lot of strangers because Micah spends the whole time waving "hi" and "bye" and people and charming them with his sweet little smile. Mommy's still got it too!

5/8 Micah has started saying "tickle tickle tickle;" is loving all of his musical toys; still loves to drum and is always drumming on his thighs when he hears a beat; when he gets an owie he pats the part of his body that's hurt with the cutest little expression on his face; mimics mama in the kitchen and puts bowls and dishes in his play oven; has taken one swim lessons so far- he did great, but didn't like getting water in his ears; has started taking my gym classes-which he loves; and loves to climb on just about anything he can including the step ladder in mama's closet, and inside of his tupperware drawer in the kitchen. He loves his water bug bath toys and often falls asleep with one in each hand. He had his first dentist appointment and hates to have his teeth brushed (but loves to brush mama and daddy's teeth). He learned to blow kisses today, gives hugs, kisses, and cuddles to his stuffed animals, books, and us! He is the cutest, snuggliest guy around and we just love him so much!

One Year!!??

3/1 Micah is able to find specific items when prompted, if we ask "where is your hammer" he will crawl across the room and get it! He also will comply with other requests like "please sit down," or "can I have that please?" He is mimicking actions with toys, and although everything still goes in his mouth, he has been using his toys for the "intended" purpose like using his hammer on his xylophone or pushing his cars and trucks around on the floor. Everyday mama says "my baby is becoming a toddler!" He really is growing up fast! The other night mama came home from work late and when Micah woke up around midnight he gave her two big kisses on the mouth and held her tight for a good five minutes. So sweet! She could barely hold back her tears, what an amazing feeling that is. He is still "stop-drop-and-headstanding" several times a day and loves it when mama plays peekaboo while he's upside down and when daddy helps him do a somersault and "throws" him on the bed. Micah continues to leave mama presents in her work cart, while at work last week she found 5 of his toys packed away in her cart. So sweet of him to share! We move into our new house in less than a week (March 7th) and are so excited to start this next chapter of our lives in a new city! We visited the house a couple weeks ago and put Micah down at the bottom of the steps so we could check paint chips, measure, and chat with the vendors/sellers and he crawled right up them! He hasn't been around steps at all except for two small stairs leading from nana's living room to her kitchen in Colorado and he knew exactly how to do it! No fear! When he really wants you to listen he talks really loudly, looks you directly in the eye and talks (adamantly) with his hands...it's the cutest thing ever! He is constantly pointing to things while chatting away and we can tell he really, really wants to communicate with us.  We can't wait to hear what is going on in his cute little head once he is able to talk! His first birthday is right around the corner!

3/8 Micah's first bath in his new big boy tub! He splashed all around, stood up, tried to eat the faucet, and seemed to like his new spacious tub!

3/11 Micah has his 7th tooth coming in (third on the bottom!) He has been busy, busy exploring our new house. We have been slowly preparing the 2nd floor to be his play area and in the meantime trying desperately to keep him contained and away from dangerous items! Micah is no longer content to hang out by his toys and wants to explore his big new house! In a flash he is off and climbs the stairs like he's been doing it his whole life..he is so fast! He climbs up both flights and then darts off down the hallway into the different rooms on the 3rd floor. He loves having so much new territory to explore. As always he is most interested in the items that are "off limits" and dangerous. He still loves to be held and to keep us close by, which we love. Unpacking is a slow process with a little one but all of us are absolutely loving our new home and so excited to explore and settle into our new city!

3/12 Micah's new thing is pointing at everyone he sees. Mama took him to Costco today and he kept pointing at random strangers and they would look up surprised and he would flash them his super cute grin and flirty eyes. He loved this older gentleman in line and kept smiling and giggling at him the whole time until eventually the man decided to help mama load her groceries onto the conveyor belt...little hustler! He just loves people. A couple days ago the painters came by to do some repair work and when daddy let them in he got super excited and did his little happy dance and when they left he started crying! Too funny!

3/18 Micah is acting much older these days! He is stacking blocks, climbing on and off of and sitting in his new big boy chair, and as of today, taking off his own diaper!

3/21 On Micah's actual birthday mama and daddy surprised him with a play area full of balloons, new sand toys, and a ride-on dragon. Mama made him pancakes and then we all took a family trip to the beach! We re-enacted our birth announcement at the beach where we took the original photo (now a stone's throw away and put Micah's little feet in the sandals! We reflected on the craziness or everything coming full circle and the beautiful intricacies of God's plan. Micah played in (and ate) sand and we put his little feet in the ocean for the first time. The next day we had Micah's birthday party/cake smash and it was wonderful. Micah took a wonderful two hour nap right before the party giving mama and daddy some extra time to run around like crazy trying to finish everything. It was a huge undertaking despite the fact that we kept it small with mostly family. Mama made veggie fajitas and lentil walnut tacos, along with a homemade banana smash cake for Micah and a chocolate cake for the guests. Micah absolutely loved his smash cake and sat there eating it for about 20 minutes! He was so adorable! He just loves having people all around him at all times so he was happy as a clam for the entire party.
